Petra is an ancient archaeological city in southern Jordan, famous for its magnificent rock-cut architecture and advanced water conduit systems. Established as the capital of the Nabataean Kingdom, it is widely known as the "Rose City" due to the distinct color of its sandstone  The Builders: Founded as early as the 5th century BC by the Nabataeans, an industrious nomadic Arab people.  The Lost City: Dwindled after shifting trade routes and earthquakes, and was largely forgotten by the Western world until its rediscovery in 1812 by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt.

Established as the capital of the Nabataeans around the 6th century BC, it thrived as a major trading hub before being largely abandoned and rediscovered in 1812.Also known in antiquity as Raqmu, Petra was originally a nomadic Arab settlement that prospered by controlling lucrative caravan routes. Its location at a crossroads between Arabia, Egypt, and Syria-Phoenicia made it a wealthy center for the incense, silk, and spice trades. The Romans annexed the Nabataean kingdom in AD 106, after which the city continued to grow until shifting trade routes and earthquakes led to its gradual abandonment around the 8th century
You can reach Petra from different ways like there are direct flights, direct trains as well as direct buses services available for Petra.
BY Air : Traveling to Petra by air typically involves flying into Aqaba (King Hussein International Airport, 100 km away) or Amman (Queen Alia International Airport, 230 km away). From either hub, you can easily access the ancient city via a 2.5 to 3.5-hour taxi, jet bus, or pre-arranged tour
A passport with a validity of at least six months and a visa are required for entry into Jordan.
BY Taxi : For travelers flying into Queen Alia International Airport, located 30 minutes from Amman, you can reach Petra in approximately three hours by car
